The titans of extreme metal, Cradle of Filth, have announced the release of their highly anticipated 14th studio album, titled The Screaming of the Valkyries, set to be released on March 21, 2025, via Napalm Records. This new work marks the continuation of the acclaimed Existence Is Futile (2021) and reinforces the legacy of Dani Filth, solidifying him as an icon in the extreme metal scene.
“To Live Deliciously”: The First Glimpse of Cradle of Filth’s New Reign
To provide a first look at this new era, the band has released the single “To Live Deliciously”, a track that combines Dani Filth’s powerful and venomous vocals with the relentless guitar attack of Marek “Ashok” Šmerda and Donny Burbage. This track reaffirms Cradle of Filth‘s dominance, honoring their past while evolving into a fresh and powerful sound.
Alongside the single, the band has also unveiled its impactful music video, which delves into a provocative and dark narrative. Regarding this work, Dani Filth comments:
“It is an observation on religious repression, as well as an opportunity to showcase a bit of blasphemy. The video for ‘To Live Deliciously’ is an encounter between a devout young nun and her mentor, a priest… Only with a touch of demonic possession and sexual misconduct to spice things up.”
On the inspiration behind the lyrics, he adds:
“The song celebrates life without restrictions. It is about indulging in pleasure without the chains of religion, fashion, or the State. Free from guilt or limitations, as nature intended.
It can be seen as a hedonistic life code, but a positive one, as long as it is not at the expense of others’ suffering. It is about enjoying the simple act of being, of being alive and free in the present.”
The Screaming of the Valkyries: A New Masterpiece by Cradle of Filth
This new album was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studios, Suffolk, England. The Screaming of the Valkyries promises to expand the band’s already impressive discography, blending grand theatrics, macabre aesthetics, and metallic brutality that has served as an inspiration for legions of artists and a loyal worldwide fanbase.
With this release, Cradle of Filth reaffirms itself as one of the most influential bands in extreme metal, maintaining its essence while continuing to evolve into new sonic horizons.
